IN-KIND DONATIONS
While VIM relies heavily on cash and stock donations, there are many items needed by the clinic that do not require your checkbook. Following is a list of clinic needs. If you can help, or if you have questions, please contact the clinic Development Office.
Pharmaceuticals:
Drug samples from physician’s offices – ask your physician to donate or have your physician ask the drug companies for extras. Drugs are one of the most expensive item we provide for our patients.
VIM cannot accept drugs and medicines that have already been opened. We are happy, however, to receive drugs and medications that are still sealed.
Pediatrics:
New coloring books and crayons for the children’s room
New small toys and trinkets for the pediatric “treasure box”
Children’s wagon with removable sides
Gently used and sturdy toys for the children’s room.
Children’s movies on videotape
Due to issues with allergies and dust, we are unable to accept used stuffed animals of any kind. We do love to get unused Beanie Babies and similar small stuffed toys for the treasure box.
Equipment:
Electroencephalogram machine
EKG Treadmill
Miscellaneous
Housing for our interns and residents. We are so fortunate to have several schools, including MUSC, USC and the University of Kentucky include us in their residency and internship programs. These young students not only learn from the experienced volunteers on staff, but they provide wonderful care for our patients. Their biggest difficulty is finding housing for several weeks that is affordable on a student’s salary.
If you have a villa or apartment that you can donate for a couple of weeks at a time to VIM, we would be very appreciative. Please call the Development Office (843.689.6612) if you can help with this urgent need!
